Unconventional Urban Narratives

Unconventional Urban Narratives

* This project has been realized during “GAST” Artist in Residence, STØND LEEG by Fameus, Belgium

By referring to urban spatiality and imagery in metaphors, through the guidelines of built elements and memory-related destinations, "Unconventional Urban Narratives" argues an intersection of time-space-persona, based on how it is rooted in a conception of personal experience and rhythmic urban scenery in fascinating hybrid urban context of Antwerp.

Residency notes1: Architectural (spatial) design, as a discipline, is related to many other disciplines, such as sociology, urban planning, anthropology, history, art, philosophy, archaeology, technology, media, politics…; and by celebrating “space” as a main content, they create inspirational intersections through their theoretical and practical knowledge. With its versatility, architecture can be part of interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary methods as a foundation, or sub-contextual component to investigate the unique experiences of the generations in city spaces.

Residency notes 2: Narration-related storytelling in a city shows itself through its collective hubs, where everyday life unfolds its character with support of many different agencies. These agencies are shaped by the users of the city and natural and/or man-made urban movements, which are realized by natural events and unexpected adaptations. They are also exposed through our imagination. At the same time, these collective hubs hold the entity of “time”, and as a result of this, they make our shared memory want to transcend.
