vormenfeest/ shape party
In shape party, Els Dillen and I wanted to celebrate pictorial aspects. "How does a shape celebrate? By whom is it celebrated? And what does a shape party require?" Are the questions we asked to discover appropriate customs for celebrating shapes. Do the circle and the triangle drink the same drink? Do they drink at all? Do they want a parade or would they prefer an offering? How can we - as human artists - celebrate pictorial aspects? With masks made of papier maché, the guests and ourselves inhabited the lives of different shapes. Can we be shapes? I dress up as a triangle. Which movements can I, triangle, make? What are my physical constraints? Which thoughts do I have? Any triangle emotions?
Shape party is part of a project called Attempts to be more kind and made in residency hosted by Galerija 101 in Kaunas (LT). Due to Covid19 the residency continued in our studio in Belgium. Margarita guided our process from a distance. The residency was supported by Lithuanian Council for Culture.
