76 Hours & 27 Minutes

76 Hours & 27 Minutes

This work is from an ongoing series of drawings that I call "Time Recordings".

These experimental drawings are guided by the rule of not touching the drawing tool with my hands. The pen or pencil is moving with the force of the wind, while only allowing myself to give the drawing direction and to control the outcome by moving the sheet of paper in the process, and by changing the drawing tool (ink pen, felt pen, pencil, graphite, etc).
Attempting to control the process and direct the outcome, I move the paper, protect parts of the
paper sheet that I want to keep bare, and from time to time, I change the drawing tool. I see it as
a dance between the wind and my own hands; the balance of controlling to some degree, while at
the same time accepting that part of what happens is out of my control.
I measure the time when the wind is blowing and drawing is happening. A drawing is usually made over several days or weeks, but I only measure the time when drawing is actually happening. The title refers to the final amoung of hours drawn.
