Portrait of a Landscape
Portrait of a Landscape
How can we renew our perception of a territory, making visible all the porous reality that expresses itself outside the most remarkable and sought-after sites?
To explore this question, I decided on a strict protocol that can be simplified as follows: I chose to cross the country on foot along 10 straight lines, in all seasons. Over the course of these 2,637 km, I had to take a one-minute video still shot after each kilometre covered.
A vast database gathers all the metadata from these videos and a system of algorithms orchestrates their broadcast on a large number of screens. The viewer is caught up in a mesmerising, slow-moving device that juxtaposes
and details, inert landscapes and banal scenes of action.
The installation questions our phenomenological relationship with the world and our cognitive capacities.
