Anastasiia Stefaniuk

Anastasiia/Nastia was born in 1990 in Kherson oblast, Ukraine.

In 1997 her family moved to Kyiv after spending 1,5 years living in the USA.

Through her mother's experience, who loved making fashion sketches, sewing, knitting and embroidering, Nastia absorbed her interest in fabrics.

For the first time, she has got acquainted with weaving techniques when she was studying fabrics at the university.

After the graduation, she chose a non-artistic path for 10 years. In 2020, the pandemic events, encouraged her to embrace herself as an artist and to pursue a drastic change in a professional career.

The relation between nature and human is the main inspiration for Nastia's works. In her practice, she builds a bridge from the deepest emotional states to material expression in ornaments and textures.
Her weaving process is entirely improvised, intuitive and defined by the impulse. She explores the concept of momentum through craft, the sensitivity of her own perception of natural and physiological phenomena.

Her main work material is second hand yarns.
