I do this by creating paintings and rich, multi-layered mixed media artworks. I’m mostly portraying glamorous woman who want to seduce the viewer into getting to know them and their stories. Inviting viewers to self-reflect and explore the limitless possibilities of their minds. Encouraging dialogue and giving people permission to share thoughts, feelings, ideas and impressions that they might not ordinarily share. Asking for time out of our busy lives to reflect on something other than our daily existences.
Through the frequent use of gold and blue, two strong colors to which both spiritual and worldly qualities are associated, these women ask to be seen. The bigger than life characters result in pieces that feel familiar and strange at once.
As a child, I dreamed about being an artist and I couldn’t wait until I turned 16 to start my art education. However, when I graduated as a Master in Visual Arts in 1998, I no longer believed in the possibility of turning this dream into a reality. I then trained as a graphic designer and worked for various companies. In 2011, I started a creative agency with my partner, offering design & branding services to B2B clients.
After the death of my parents, I asked myself whether I was living the life I really wanted to live. The answer was no. Although I loved lots of pieces of the life, I’d build for myself there was something missing. I was always working for clients and missed expressing what I was thinking and feeling. I wanted to create without boundaries, so I decided to breathe new life into my old dream.
I’m now fully focused on further developing my body of work as an artist since I feel this is what I must do in this lifetime.
I combine personal development & spirituality with glitter & glamour because I love both and I want more people to become aware of the way we can shape our world. Together we can build paradise.
Like John Lennon said; “You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one”. :)
