Laura Skvirskaya

Throughout Laura Skvirskaya’s life, the visual arts guided her like a compass, to explore herself and others.

Laura was born in 1986 in Central Asia and moved to Belgium in 2001.
At the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, she was trained as a painting conservator. She obtained her master's degree in the conservation and restoration of paintings and polychrome sculptures.

Laura loves to explore and observe the Old Masters. They give her a feeling of infinite possibilities. She also has a natural attraction to modern art.

Laura’s inspiration comes from the tension between light and shadow, color, motion, temper, literature and life.
The portrayal of people is her fascinating point of interest. Her paintings reflect the changing relaitionship beween man and world. Its testiifying to the existential questions.

She masters different techniques, and prefers to work with oil paint as it gives her a sense of tactility,

Laura Skvirskaya has a keen feeling to apply every material and technique in it’s very own authentic flow.
