Katharina Spitz
Katharina Spitz (* 1993) is an Amsterdam-based conceptual designer with a background in couture dressmaking. Her practice consists of a poetic, conceptual and hands-on examination of social conflicts of our time. From a feminist and material oriented perspective, she explores new ways of being in a world that is suffering from pollution, misogyny, inequality and alienation.
She graduated from Universität der Künste in 2021 and has been working independently in Amsterdam since. Her practice consists of autonomous work as well as textile crafting for artists and designers such as Sean Hannan, Marlou Breuls and Susanna Inglada.
Her performances and designs have been exhibited in places such as the Bundeskunsthalle (Bonn), Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe (Hamburg), Fashionclash Festival (Maastricht) and Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin). Collaboration is key in her design practice, so is spontaneity, precision and playfulness.
