Rhune Bervoet
Rhune Bervoet (23) is a visual artist who graduated in 2024 with a Master’s degree in Photography from KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent. In her work, she explores the tensions between alienation and familiarity, seeking ways to mirror her inner world with the reality around her. She views the world as a kind of theatre play, which we perceive through our own frame of reference and current emotional state—sometimes with a sense of distant confusion, while at other times longing for closeness.
Using photography as her primary medium, she creates poetic images that hover on the edge between the familiar and the uncanny. Her work is introspective and touches on themes such as searching, longing and loss. She employs a suggestive and intuitive visual language that invites stillness and reflection.
Rhune draws inspiration from personal experiences as well as the fragile beauty of the ephemeral. She poses questions without the need to answer them, intentionally leaving room for interpretation and emotion. Her images carry a dreamlike atmosphere, as if everyday time is momentarily paused to make space for wonder.
In doing so, she invites the viewer to wander through her world—a world where the boundary between inner and outer is constantly blurring.
