Road to Nowhere is an installation  build out of a yellow rope that hanging through the space on pulleys. At the end of the rope hangs a 30-cm chocolate chip cookie, made of real dough and fibreglass. This cookie constantly moves up and down, trying to get into a very small cup of coffee, it never succeeds.
The movement is automatically driven by a Nema 23 motor (a steppermotor). On the motor is a spool on which the rope is coiled. The motor sits in a cabinet or box depending on the space. The distance can also be adjusted 20 metres is the maximum.
In this work, distance is important , hence the ‘road’ in the title. It ends in a kind of anticlimax, referring to the idea of a ‘road to nowhere.’
The title is also a nod to the Talking Heads' song, which was often played during the hours in the studio.  The  thema of the work focuses on existentialism: what is the point of life? There is no point. It is going nowhere, so we had better laugh about it during our journey to nowhere.

Road to Nowhere is een installatie bestaande uit een geel touw dat door de ruimte hangt aan katrollen . Aan het uiteinde van het touw hangt een chocoladechipkoek van 30 cm groot, gemaakt van echt koekjesdeeg en glasvezel. Deze koek beweegt voortdurend op en neer, en probeert in een zeer klein kopje koffie te komen, wat nooit lukt.

De beweging wordt automatisch aangedreven door een Nema 23-motor (een steppenmotor). Op de motor zit een spoel waarop het touw is opgerold. De motor zit in een kast of box afhankelijk van de ruimte. De afstand kan ook aangepast worden 20 meter is het maximum.

In dit werk speelt afstand een belangrijke rol, vandaar de "road" in de titel. Het eindigt in een soort anticlimax, wat verwijst naar het idee van een "weg naar nergens."

De titel is ook een knipoog naar het nummer van de Talking Heads, dat vaak werd gedraaid tijdens de uren in het atelier. Inhoudelijk richt het werk zich op het existentialisme: wat is het nut van het leven? Er is geen nut. Het gaat nergens naartoe, dus we kunnen er maar beter om lachen tijdens onze reis naar nergens.
