In my monotype work, I was inspired by Josef Albers' research into color. For me, Albers and other abstract artists saw art as a means of expressing spiritual and social ideas. Although his works do not deal directly with democracy, they illustrate a quest for harmony and unity.
Albers explored the relationships and tensions between color and form, a possible metaphor for peaceful coexistence in a democratic society. The idea that different colors and shapes can coexist harmoniously in the same space symbolizes diversity and integration, where each element retains its identity while contributing to the whole.
In this idea of individual freedom, diversity of voices and unity, I created a series of three monotypes for Open Call Magrafica25, exploring the repetition of the same form through the interaction of three colors: blue, yellow and red. From one print to the next, the form and colors, diluted in solvents and manipulated between impressions, are transformed under the pressure of the press. These interactions give rise to new colors and modify form, in a quest for unity. Beyond the study of the relationships between colors, it's above all the light that emanates from them that interests me.
