The Nuclear Family is a deep dive into the complex dynamics of a family’s life. It explores the ideal image of family which Kayin Luys’ parents tried to pursue, despite a divorce. When he discovered that his parents did not own a family album, the social construct of a nuclear family quickly became dominant in the photographer's life. Together with actors, in staged photographs, he delves back into his childhood in search of his parents' lost utopia. Kayin Luys’s memories and stories become a playground to create his own family album. Confronting the audience with the concept of a white, western ‘family,  he hopes to let them wonder about what kind of roles we play and fulfill in our surroundings.
