quelle magnifique journée

Quelle Magnifique Journéé is an installation based on the underlying connatation with the experience of being at home and feeling more alienated each time I was younger, that there was no more distinction than feeling alienated.

The concept of “being at home” is still a misunderstood experience that I have made up for myself and in doing so do not know in what aspects I want to look at it. In a way, I want to take a very siren-like view of it, because in the end we have all grown up with the idea that being at home is linked to peace and a harmony that you shouldn’t experience anywhere else, yet there are a lot of contradictions involved. A place that I end up experiencing more from a dubious standpoint, a kind of alienation and perhaps a kind of disgust with it. But as strange as this experience feels, nowhere else is there a place I feel more at home with than in this concrete concept of it. 

The installation is also made to read it as a story, triptychs used to tell stories/ scenes and for me this was certainly no different. This triptych is based on the birth of being home, the choas involved and the intertwined death of this or in other words the fusion of this. With each of these side panels there is a story around the birth of this choas of being home and also the plot of the melting of this tolded. 

Thereby this installation is also more based that the spectator/viewer can draw his own experience from this. It’s not intended that you look out every given moment of the animation, but rather be confronted with a kind of reality that you have to decide for yourself. It is a kind of exploration that the viewer has to make on the basis of discovering the elements you see while being guided by the sound. In which the viewer cannot help but go out with a cathartic feeling.
