Boetkleed

Boetkleed

This installation is a mix of the 'melancholic bride' with a convention, in a certain culture, a woman who walks to the altare or her man-to-be must cry to show that she will mis the care of her parents. If she doesn't cry the invitees may spit on her veil. The veil in my installation represents penalty or penitence because of its long and heavy appearence that flows into a stream of glass at the ground. But it also represents the delight of penalty by the poetic place and the light translucent fabric. The veil is coated with little glass dust and pieces. Therefore (at the place it was presented) it shines at magic houre or the hour before the sun goes down.
