La démarche de Sónia Aniceto se situe à la croisée entre peinture et art textile. Dans une approche élargie de la peinture, elle allie couleurs appliquées, broderie, point libre mécanique et dessin sur du « drop papier », membrane souple et fibreuse proche du tissu. Par-delà le jeu plastique, de ces frottements insolites naît un tissage tridimensionnel.

La délicatesse du dessin, la résilience du papier, ses transparences, ses épaisseurs, sa souplesse et ses tensions bâtissent un univers de l’intime, tout en force et fragilité.

Son travail a de nombreuses entrées et se nourrit de fragments narratifs, de chevauchements et de scènes qui s’imbriquent. Assurément, il intrigue par l’approche. Un kaléidoscope d’histoires et de sensations qui au final composent un tout et dessinent une identité, un moi fragmenté. Sónia oscille entre l’innocence et l’âge adulte, entre la liberté et la retenue dans ces espaces énigmatiques qui sont les siens et dans une surréalité ambivalente qui n’est pas bridée par la logique. Sonia aime bousculer les repères spatiaux et temporels.

La référence au corps est toujours présente, un corps morcelé dont elle propose une vision partielle. Si fragmentée qu’elle en devient imaginaire. 

Une sorte de inévitable évolution vers l’abstraction s’amorce, tel un paysage sans fin, plus atmosphérique que figuratif. Dans ses oeuvres récentes, Sónia sonde la notion de territoire. Partagé, conquis, marqué, connu, vécu, traversé, reconnu, approprié, déplacé, familier. Autant de manières d’habiter le monde qui métamorphosent l’être.  Ses « paysages » se présentent comme une traversée, un voyage parcourant des territoires, des lieux fantasmés, des géographies teintées d’affect. Elles nous invitent à multiplier les mondes pour rendre le nôtre plus accueillant.

Sónia Aniceto's work lies at the crossroads between painting and textile art. In a broader approach to painting, she combines applied colors, embroidery, mechanical free-stitch and drawing on 'drop paper', a flexible, fibrous material similar to fabric. The result is a three-dimensional weave.

The delicacy of the drawing, the resilience of the paper, its transparencies, its thicknesses, its suppleness and tensions create a world of intimacy, full of strength as well as fragility.

Her work is multi-faceted, drawing on narrative pieces, overlaps and interlocking scenes. Her approach is certainly intriguing: a kaleidoscope of stories and sensations that combine to form a whole, an identity. Sónia oscillates between innocence and adulthood, between freedom and restraint in these enigmatic spaces of hers, and in an ambivalent “surreality” that is not constrained by logic. She likes to disrupt spatial and temporal reference points.

The reference to the body is omnipresent, a fragmentary, almost lacking body of which she offers a partial vision, so fragmented that it becomes imaginary, like a vague memory.   

A kind of inevitable evolution towards abstraction begins, like an endless landscape, more atmospheric than figurative. In her recent works, Sónia explores the notion of territory. Shared, conquered, marked, known, experienced, crossed, recognized, appropriated, moved, familiar…so many ways of inhabiting the world that transforms the human being.  This “landscapes” are like a journey through fantasized places and geographies tinged with affect. They invite us to multiply worlds in order to make ours more welcoming.
