Catastrophe Averted
Catastrophe Averted
The work was developed during an Independent Project Residency at IPA in New York, showcasing six groundbreaking sustainable initiatives that serve as beacons of hope for a greener and more resilient urban future. Set against the backdrop of iconic boroughs—the narrative takes you on an awe-inspiring adventure that highlights projects where environmental consciousness meets innovative design.
I experimented with translation of spacious narratives to a form of manipulation of fragments, visual construction. The power of polyptych art lies in its ability to work as a coherent piece, as well as several separate works of art. Each part represents an "Architectural Portrait" that can be seen independently but together they tell one continuous story of New York. The research is a series of speculative explorations, serendipitous discoveries, visual metaphors.
Imprecise and speculative images are therefore powerful tools of beauty persuasion in a brutal and naïve manner.
I like to experiment with different kinds of perspectives and projections in one drawing, combination of line drawings and patters, color palettes and textures. It is interesting for me to document not only the beauty of details and forms but create a story behind it: to expresses relationships of people and processes that happened around architecture, nature and streetscape.
Catastrophe Averted: Prolonging Tomorrow is not just a drawing series—it's a call to action. By celebrating these sustainable initiatives, I aim to inspire architects, urbanists, and city dwellers alike to embrace responsible urban practices.
