6 AM and the echo of a seagull
6 AM and the echo of a seagull
This print is inspired by my childhood paradise, Solund, an archipelago and the westernmost island municipality in Norway. Here, on the main island, I inherited a traditional boathouse. One morning at 6 AM I woke up and went for a walk. There was but silence. The sea reflected islands, islets and stone formations.
Four prints In this print I used different mokuhanga techniques:
- Bokashi which gives beautiful gradations.
- Urazuri - printing from the back - which gives a soft color.
- Gomazuri - sesame printing - printing without nori (rice glue)
I used birch and pine blocks, pigment paste, water and nori. Four sheets of Shin hosho kozopaper.
