The OOZ
The OOZ
I found three animals whose names form entirely different words when reversed. I created hand- carved stamps of both the animal and its reversed name. A stamp is itself a tool of inversion: the word appears backward on the block but reads correctly only in its printed trace. Through this act of pressing and reversing, I became interested in the space between the imprint and its source, the moment when meaning shifts, when confusion arises. I also printed these pairs on clothing: one word on the front, the other on the back so that the body becomes part of the play.
