"Love letter to live music"
"Love letter to live music"
I began the “Before and After” research during my master, documenting the emotional shifts I experienced before and after a concert. Now, as part of the production team at Kavka Oudaan/Zappa, I have the opportunity to immerse myself in live music on a deeper level. This exhibition is a love letter to Kavka—shaped by the concerts I worked on and the people I met along the way! 🫶
The works
“Een Pintje”- Chained bag for a drink
“Tape me on the floor, I do not want to leave”- Collected from numerous concerts technician tape used on stage. Layerd into a painting.
“Beer stained floor”- During concerts, a lot of drinks are spilled on the floor while dancing. In this work I embroidered the patterns I observed from the venue floor after a concert.
“OH MY! The Earplugs”- In the observation after concerts, I have found a lot of squished and used earplugs, they had different stains and I wanted to translate the small unnoticed earplugs to big used ones.
“My first guitar pick! I got it last”- I got my first guitar pick from a metal band. I was never "chosen" to have this priviledge of receiving a guitar pick. When I received the first one, it was very important moment although I got it last before the band left.
"Traced"- A drum part left at a venue. It had a lot of traces of usage and I exaggerated the traces with embroidery.
"Loved this place"- Embroidery, and tangled broken cables from a venue.
Every time I am at a live concert, I observe and collect items left from the crowd. It is continues artworks in process and progress.
