Sunday afternoon in Burgh-Haamstede

Sunday afternoon in Burgh-Haamstede

Everything moves.

Even when it looks still;

The world is always rearranging itself.

In small, invisible ways.

I have long been searching for a place where the dunes remain untouched, and where the beauty and force of the sea put us back into perspective.  I spent an afternoon on the beach in Burgh-Haamstede and returned with the memories of the uneven textures of sand constantly carved by the wind, of heavy clouds that looked as they had already been painted,  and the smell of iodine.  Movement is everywhere at the beach. That continuous shifting, dissolving, and rebuilding mirrors my own process:  a constant state of becoming, reshaping, and letting the work guide me as much as I guide it.
