Pretzel
Pretzel
Hemitrichia Serpula, or lovingly called "pretzel slime mold", is a beautiful little organism living on rotting wood. During the first phase of its 48 hour life cycle, it expands like a network, looking for tiny particles of food (fungal spores, bacteria, ...), which it consumes by engulfing it like an amoeba. In its next life phase, it transforms and produces spores in fruiting bodies along its network.
This piece is an ode to the small, weird and wonderful organisms we share our planet with.
