Scarifications
Scarifications
Some scars are visible, some are not. I grew up in Ivory Coast and was fascinated as a child and still am by tribal and ethnic scarifications people wear in Africa. As a child I was also exposed to my mothers’ illness: she suffered from bi-polarity. The silver scars I engraved represent also my personal scars. Hidden at the back of each scarred bead: a word to name them and exorcise the pain. Those beads that are untouched represent the future, still to be built, filled with hope and love
