DomestiCity is a socially engaged artist-run space based in Laken, Brussels. We open up the basement of our house for neighbours, friends, passerby for artistic and reflective activities and events linked to craft - slowing down - working together - dialogue. In 2025 we will reshape the collective into a living (room) library where we gather and pass on (embodied) knowledge about crafts - commonism - micro-politics. We want to redefine where knowledge can be found and believe in learning by doing/making. Every two weeks we organise a public gathering where we work together on the project. This can be building a public bench, discovering a knitting machine, making some fermethings, etc. [here you can add your input, linked to your interests/knowledge]

A new person(ality) brings a new vision, new perspectives, and it renews the collective.  As we view ourselves as an ever-changing and growing collective, we aim to open up the core of DomestiCity. Thus, please feel welcome to join us!

Your participation within the collective can be on different levels and with different focuses/projects. We are welcoming 3 different types of engagements

1. Housemate/member: You participate in the project from within the house. You join meetings and engage with the public gatherings in our basement twice a month. You give input in the gatherings- what would you like to do? You help to shape the always-evolving collective.You live in our house and can use the project space as a collective atelier/work space. 2. Participative member: you engage with the public gatherings in our basement twice a month (+-8h per month). You give input in the gatherings - what would you like to do? You can use the project space as a collective atelier/working space. You help to shape the always-evolving collective. 

3. Volunteer: You would like to help out with one of the gatherings that interests you.

We know there are a lot of questions, but we like to have a good overview of who you are. Afterwards, we would like to meet up to chat even further.
