Open Call

GRID 2025 - One Page Comic Expo

GRID is back! The one page comic expo by Pulp deLuxe once again offers a platform to creators to show their cartoon or comic to the general public. From 7 June to 30 August 2025, you can admire the selected works at De Krook, Ghent's public library. The expo will then travel on to the Dutch festival Cross Comix, where the works will be exhibited from 12 to 13 September.

The name GRID refers to the classic 'boxes' in which comics are told. This grid helps stories unfold, but can also be a limitation. Some creators strictly adhere to the grid, while others break it completely. We at Pulp deLuxe encourage play and experimentation and look forward to seeing how you use it in your one page comic. We ask the participants to submit a one-page comic that will be printed in a 1080mm x 2180mm (1/2) format. With this, we follow in the footsteps of the Van Eyck brothers, who already used this format for their Ghent Altarpiece polyptych.

Get involved!

Do you want to showcase your work to a wide audience? Submit your one-page comic for GRID 2025! This year, 10 works will be selected by an external three-member jury panel. The selected works will be featured in the exhibition, have the chance for extra exposure through our partners, and receive compensation for their work.

Deadline
27 april 2025

Who can participate?

Anyone with a connection to Belgium and/or the Netherlands (e.g. living or born there, studied there, or resided there for a long time...)

What can you submit?

  • Your submission is a graphic novel or comic: you tell a story. This can be poetic or abstract, but there must be a clear progression. This is shown by the composition and/or the addition of text.
  • Your entry consists of 1 page with proportions 1/2 (a one pager). The selected one-pagers will be printed on 2180 x 1080mm panels. This does not mean that your drawing must be drawn at this size, but make sure it has a good resolution.
  • Your entry can exist on its own and needs no additional explanation.
  • Your submission is two-dimensional. Your submission is no larger than 5MB.
  • If you are selected, we ask you to submit a print-ready file.
  • Your submission must be in Dutch, English or textless.
  • Your submission may have already been published, but no longer than January 2023.
  • You may submit a maximum of one entry.

How to participate?

  • All participants must register in advance using the registration form above on Beeld.
  • After registration, you should also submit the work. This is done digitally and must be in by 11.59pm on 27 April 2025 at the latest.

How does the selection take place?

  • A preselection is made by the editors of Pulp deLuxe.
  • This preselection will be presented to a three-member external jury. This jury will be communicated later this month. Follow our Instagram page to stay updated. Each jury member will individually compile a top 10.
  • The jury will then meet to make a final selection.
  • 10 works will be selected.
  • In addition to the selected works, some of the unselected entries may still be published on the Pulp deLuxe website and/or in Zone 5300.

What if you are selected?

  • Your one pager will be exhibited at GRID at De Krook Library in Ghent (Miriam Makebaplein 1, 9000 Ghent) from 7 June to 30 August 2025.
  • Your work will then be exhibited at Cross Comix from 12 September to 13 September 2025.
  • Your work will be published on Pulp deLuxe's online channels (website + Instagram + Facebook).
  • Some selected works will be published in Stripgids.
  • Winners will be announced on 15 May 2025 and will receive €200.
