Open Call
Kunstschouw 2026

Kunstschouw is an annual contemporary art event on Schouwen-Duiveland that attracts an estimated 10,000 visitors from the Netherlands and abroad. Around 175 artists display their work at some 30 locations in approximately 12 villages in the western corner of the island. A catalog is published annually.
Kunstschouw connects contemporary art by approximately 175 artists from the Netherlands and abroad, who change annually, with locations typical of Zeeland. Art from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and overseas takes on a different dimension against the backdrop of dunes, in authentic ring villages, or in a barn in the Zeeland countryside. Private gardens and old, tranquil churches in the center of the ring villages also open their doors to contemporary art during Kunstschouw.
Kunstschouw attracts thousands of interested visitors every year, including ‘scouting’ gallery owners, art organizations, and companies. This provides artists with new opportunities and possibilities.
Given the spacious indoor and outdoor locations, large spatial works are more than welcome.
Special attention is given to young, emerging artists, who compete for the Young Artists Award.
The participation fee is €75. For young, emerging artists (under 35), participation is free of charge, with a modest contribution towards accommodation costs. For large spatial works, a transport allowance may be available in consultation.
Registration is only possible by post. Send the completed form with your photographic material to Stichting Kunstschouw Westerschouwen, PO Box 115, 4328 ZJ Burgh-Haamstede.
All submitted work will be assessed in December. Artists will be notified of the results around mid-January.
