Sorry Not Sorry kunstenfestival 2024 is looking for young curators

Arts festival Sorry Not Sorry seeks young curators (16-30 years old) for its 2024 edition to help shape the festival.  This can be done individually or as a collective. With or without experience! You will help shape the festival together with the other curators and artists of the festival.

We provide a budget of up to 5,000 euros for the realization of our own artistic program.

SORRY, NOT SORRY brings art to the streets.
The focus of our festival, which always takes place in a neighborhood outside the city center, is on creative 'underground' and 'out of the box' art. You will discover 'young' artists and organizations and experience from the front row how walls between regular artists, street artists and local residents are broken down. The ideal breeding ground for interesting cross-pollinations and cultural sub-currents!

The festival also wants to bring art closer to the people and connect them by building artistic bridges, in the context of a super-diverse society.

Deadline
16 April 2023

What do we ask?

Your diverse and exciting programming proposal
As a curator, you are involved in the organization of the festival from A to Z and take the reins of the programming. You start from a white sheet.

Together with the other curators and Culture Ghent, you will put together the complete puzzle: street art, music, performance, theater, fashion, visual arts... Grab your chance to put together a programming that colors outside the lines and reflects contemporary youth culture.

What do you get?
Each curator will receive:

1000 Euros compensation for performance and preparation per curatorship.
We manage for you an operating budget of up to 5000 euros for the realization of your artistic program.
Coaching throughout the entire process by Culture Ghent and their network of experts.

 How is the selection made?
For the selection we take into account:

You are 16 years or older and younger than 30.
You develop an artistic program with content that fits within the mission and vision of our festival.
You provide us with a program proposal with budget no later than April 16, 2023. Take into account material costs, artist fees, logistics and technical costs etc.
You find collaboration with other curators, artists and collectives inspiring.
You are in touch with the contemporary artistic (youth) scene.
You like to roll up your sleeves but you are also not afraid of regular consultations.
