The annual summer exhibition at Karlsruhe University of Art and Design is called  “Rundgang”, which translates directly as “tour”. In the German language, there are many compound nouns whose meaning is sometimes more or less logically composed of two other words.  In the case of “Rundgang”, “rund” always means a round shape or something enclosed. “Gang”, on the other hand, can mean a walkway, a corridor or even, the group. We’ve taken this peculiarity of the German language, which gives rise to “non-words” such as “Rundgang”, as a visual hook for the identity of the 2023 exhibition.
