I photographed this garbage can, which has become a symbol of one of the most acute environmental problems of our time, under a bridge near my home. Inspired by what I saw, I decided to print it out on paper in black and white so that the realistic image would match reality rather than fiction. In the background of this gloomy aspect of the urban environment is an image of an artist painting flowers - this is my self-portrait. This contrast between the trash can and the floral imagery symbolizes the hope that art can inspire and provoke change even amidst growing environmental challenges. This work creates a space for reflection, making us realize that despite the existing difficulties, there is always a chance for change and an opportunity to create something beautiful.
