Seawater toning on film I

Seawater toning on film I

Interested in alternative ways of dealing with film photography, these large format prints on mica are a result of soaking developed color film in sea water for over a week and drying them. During the drying process, the salt crystallizes and becomes visible on top of the film, creating these intricate natural patterns. These works are an attempt of visualising a part of the North Sea by only using film and the sea itself. The film format ratio was retained, scaled up and printed on mica.
