What does a voice feel like? Where do sound waves turn into memories and love, or silence and hate? Making a voice visible somehow makes it easier to see the things it can transmit: the fullness, the dryness, the modulation, and the accents. Not the love, though, the love stays in the sound.

For this project, I spectral-analyzed the voices of people around me, specifically international students who live in my building. I chose people with whom I have different relationships, ranging from almost unknown to deeply close, and I asked the same questions of them. I analyzed the audio to create visual pieces, which somehow became portraits of beautiful people I’m lucky to have known.
