CORPUS
CORPUS
My body is the place I inhabit, which allows me to occupy space in the world, to express myself, a means for sexuality, for my identity. The body, especially the female body, is used to pigeonhole into a gender, a type, a form, a desire, a gaze: the male gaze.
I inhabit a body, one that does not belong to a man or a woman, a body that is mine and can take a thousand forms, only sexually to those I allow it to. My body allows me to be alive.
Faced with this feeling, Corpus was born, a project in which I work with real bodies on expression, form, and the euphoria of being alive and being a body, as a counterpoint to my project ‘the terror of being flesh’. In it, models' bodies are tied using the Japanese bondage technique Shibari—the ropes that do not restrict me, the beauty of the knot, of weaving stories—and scanned using the emerging technique of photogrammetry. They are then transformed into works of art through 3D sculpting and digital post-production. Finally, they are displayed as such, as unique and beautiful works of art.
