In this painting, I pay homage to René Magritte’s iconic use of the eye as a site of mystery, illusion, and introspection. But instead of presenting the eye as a window to the sky, as Magritte once did, I veil it in a dense, undulating mass of hair to transform sight into concealment. It suggests protection, trauma, memory, and censorship all at once. A seeing organ that is almost blind, a symbol of truth that is submerged in layers of cultural and emotional history. I Bring such questions : what lies behind vision itself. What is truth when the act of seeing is interrupted? What kind of knowing is possible through veils, shadows, and silence?
