A Silent Witness to Repetition
A Silent Witness to Repetition
Mixed media piece constructed from clippings of Belgian ‘Libelle’ @libellebelgie magazines, dated 1946.
This work speaks of postwar landscapes—not just historical, but ongoing. In 2025, wars rage, wildfires scar the earth, and skies turn red. There’s no blue here. Only heat, memory, and silence.
A ghostlike child figure lingers in the center—almost unseen, yet watching. She is the witness to history’s cyclical ache. Red birds soar like omens. Flames echo through the brushstrokes.
And then—golden shoes. A woman wears them, gleaming defiantly amidst ruin. Is it irony? Vanity? Or the glittering insistence of life moving forward?
Look closer. The story doesn’t shout—it whispers from the soles upward.
