Nothing new under the sun

Eva Donckers (°1991, based in Antwerp) presents her ongoing project “Nothing new under the sun”, a photographic series resulting from interactions with diverse encounters pursuing a spiritual life. She captures the unique or idiosyncratic traces of human interaction in a particular place, taking into account the qualities of natural light. Encounters with unknown people and places are often a starting point for her work. For this occasion, she collects images from her archive, a collection from various travels. During these travels she interacted with different individuals and communities who claimed to be on a spiritual journey; a collective search for enlightenment. The project became a playful research of how to present these stories of elusive magic into a series of images. Like a stream of conscious thoughts, the photographs are presented to interact and create an open narrative.

All prints are analogue handmade c-prints.
