In this ongoing Erotologie series, vintage erotic imagery is elevated through gold-thread embroidery, transforming carnal scenes into sacred tableaux, inviting viewers to reconsider the boundaries between desire and divinity, the profane and the sacred. 

The illustrations are taken from De Figuris Veneris, Manual of classic erotology, an anthology of ancient Greek and Roman erotic topics, published by Friedrich Karl Forberg in 1824. A French edition of 1906 was illustrated by Edouard-Henri Avril including 96 sexual positions: aesthetic images, but raw and very explicit. Therefore, most editions were restricted to high society or censored.
