Without A Homeland (future series)
Without A Homeland (future series)
Entwined, lookalike faces bear the weight of pain for the lost homeland. Here, the color blue speaks of sorrow and solitude: bodies—together, yet alone—imprisoned not only by displacement, but by distance from loved ones and the motherland. This painting by Hussein Shamia is part of the series “Without a Homeland”, which explores bodies as witnesses to both loss and exile. In this series, the choice of color reveals the inner world of those deprived of their homeland, while the deformation of the bodies—especially the facial features—reflects the condition of forced displacement.
