Printmakers night 25.01.2025

I like to test different graphic solutions, different forms of expression or styles from time to time. Generally, I like to search and face some challenges from time to time. This time I tried to create a work in mokuhanga (Japanese woodcut technique) so as to maintain a sketchy character, an unfinished work with some indeterminacy. The project developed to 6 blocks, so for sketchiness which is associated with quick works, it’s a lot heheh 😂 but in woodcut it’s not a drawing, but giving a drawing character is a lot of work

As for the presentation, it shows the intaglio printing studio at Instytute Fine Art in University Rzeszów during the so-called Graphic Printmakers’ Night

It is an informal party in the studio. Everyone is doing their own work – so I was also tinkering and I had the idea to illustrate it… or rather make a project because cutting the matrices, printing, etc. took much longer heheh

The history of this event began when I was still studying for my bachelor’s degree and the instructor Paweł Bińczycki suggested that our group have additional classes in the evening (or rather until midnight) so that those who had problems finishing their work before the exam could get some extra time and those who already had everything ready for the exam could do some additional work. The event was definitely a success and since then we have been resuming it from time to time. Most often at the end of the semester. Sometimes there are participants in the studio to the brim but sometimes it was just me and Paweł 😂 There were quite a few people at this event, although I made this sketch at different times when there were a few fewer of them
