De kunstenaar papegaait de zin "Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe" de eerste regel van het nonsens gedicht 'Jabberwocky' uit Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There (1872). 

'My Parrot' heeft een grillige, fantasierijke sfeer. De bedoeling ervan is om de verbeelding te prikkelen.
