Ninnaistako, or Chief Mountain in its English translation is a very sacred mountain who anchors the Blackfoot people to this day by providing a general sense of belonging, giving personal directions for a good life, and emanating much revered wisdom for the community.

It is a place where young Blackfoot people set out to fast to receive visions under the guidance of experienced mentors.

According to local tradition, I acknowledge the powerful mountain presence, and feel seen in return. It is through spirited landscape features like him that I feel welcome here.
