Suiseki, stone appreciation II
Suiseki, stone appreciation II
In 2023 I stayed four weeks in Karuizawa at the Mokuhanga school. My project was to explore stone texture by using different mokuhanga techniques.
In Japan, collecting stones is important. The finest ones are displayed on a wooden platform. One small stone holds the entire mountain in itself. There is a special Japanese word for this stone worship - Suiseki. I have used this word as the title for a series of prints.
In this print I used:
- Gomazuri (sesami printing)
- Kirazuri - printing with mica
-
Sharp tool for the line in the black.
