dust bunnies

dust bunnies

Dust bunnies slowly gather together in the

smallest corners of our rooms, quietly pre-

sent. They are often unnoticed, until the

moment they are swept away. As our rela-

tionships they exist in a certain time, and

are vulnerable to disappearing any time too.

This two-channel video installation reflects

on the impermanence of connections, and

the sense of uncertainty about their dura-

tions. Whether with the people around us

or our surroundings, they can shift or fade

away without warning. A city can change,

or perhaps we grow away from it ourselves.

There is an inherent sense of threat present,

a feeling that something is always on the

edge of changing. As with the experience

of loss, time begins to feel different and can

come to a need to pause, while daily life con-

tinues. Therefore the sense of time is used in

a more non-linear and distorted way, where

everything is constantly shifting, or seems to

be threatening to shift at any moment. Dust

bunnies embodies this fragility and transient

nature of our connections, reflecting on the

dualism where both beauty and pain coexist.
