The Estrogen Effect delves into my personal experience of undergoing a breast reduction in March 2025, at the age of 19. What began as a personal documentation of my decision soon evolved into a deep research project. 
Today, more women than ever are opting for breast reduction surgery. At the same time, women’s breasts are getting larger than in previous generations. I started asking myself: how? What is behind this? 
This project stretches beyond my personal experience. I began researching and was shocked to discover the amount of hormone disrupting chemicals like BPA, PFAS, Phthalates, Pesticides, Birth Control… all commonly found in plastics, cosmetics and products that women use on a day to day basis. These substances, silently and invisibly present in our environments, interfere with our hormones and affect girls of my generation. 
This project arises from an urgent need to expose the everyday products that we believe are harmless and to question why we continue to live among them despite the damage they cause.
