How do you draw up an overall picture of a territory without overlooking its slightest particularities? For Lieux Communs / Gemeenplaatsen, I crossed Belgium from one side to the other along the winding linguistic border and focused my photographs on these shared areas. It's not the border that I'm offering up to the eye, but rather the range of urban and landscape possibilities of a country in this body of 400 images. Walking along this line of demarcation, moving away from the landmarks and landscapes that are emblematic of the country, allows us to take a fresh look at the landscape.

the architectural aspirations of its inhabitants, and to see how individual issues clash with collective interests.

This work of recording the landscape also serves as a pretext for deconstructing documentary imagery and playing with its most emblematic forms.
