iPhone year 0
iPhone year 0
The iPhone is more than a device — it marked a reset, the beginning of a new age of touch, image, and connection. In this work, it is reframed as “Year 0”: not a sleek tool of progress, but a relic of origin, hardened and fossil-like, as if excavated from the earth rather than assembled in a factory.
Covered in textures of stone, moss, and sediment, the iPhone appears ancient, almost mythological. Its form is instantly recognizable, yet its surface speaks of erosion, decay, and time stretched far beyond its actual history. The object becomes a paradox — at once futuristic and primordial, disposable and eternal.
The piece questions how quickly technology shifts from innovation to obsolescence, from necessity to debris. By freezing the iPhone in this state, the work transforms it from an everyday object into a monument: the marker of “Year 0,” the point where digital life began to define human rhythm.
