Ninnaistako, or Chief Mountain in its English translation is another spirited and very sacred mountain who anchors the Blackfoot people to this day by providing a general sense of belonging, giving personal directions for a good life, and emanating much revered wisdom for the community. It is a place where young Blackfoot people set out to fast to receive visions under the guidance of experienced mnetors.

As is common practice with Indigenous people, I acknowledge this powerful presence whenever I see him and feel seen in return. It is through spirited landscape features like him that I feel welcome here to for the time of my residency.
