Driedee

Kunstwerkt and Kunsthal Mechelen are launching the open call Driedee, a project dedicated to visual art that explores length, width, and depth. Do you play with these three dimensions in your work? Do you push beyond conventional boundaries? How do shape, size, and weight influence your creations? Driedee seeks to explore these edges and boundaries, whether through fragile installations, robust sculptures, wall-mounted objects, or spatial creations on a pedestal.

If you're interested in showcasing your work in this group exhibition, register through the form underneath by October 20. Your work could catch the eye of our jury. The selected pieces will be exhibited from 13 December 2024 to 2 March 2025, in the spaces of Kunsthal Mechelen, in collaboration with students from the Curatorial Studies program at KASK Ghent.

Participation is free. 

Within the open call 'Driedee', each participant may submit one work until midnight on Sunday 20 October 2024. To do so, you need to create a profile on Beeld. In the registration form, you can upload several images and/or videos of the same work.

Selection

The process will involve one online selection round, where digital submissions will be evaluated by an external jury consisting of Herman Van Ingelgem, Shervin Sheikh Rezaei and several students from the Curatorial Studies program at KASK Ghent.

By the end of October, they will make a selection from all the works submitted. Participants will be personally informed of the final selection by mid-November 2024 at the latest.

Technical requirements
  • With 'Driedee' we want to be able to exhibit a wide range of creations. For this, all types of works are allowed, but they must at least play the three dimensions to be selected by the jury. 
  • Digital work is allowed. 
  • Submission as a collective is allowed. 
  • A series or sequence (a work consisting of several parts) is allowed. You do this by adding it as one work on your profile on Beeld. Clearly state in the title of your work that it is a series, and include multiple images of the different works.No minimum or maximum dimensions are prescribed, but the individual elements of the work must fit through the door (H 242 x W 180cm).
  • The exhibition rooms are on the second floor. There is a small elevator (H 200 x W 105 x D 215cm). There is a maximum weight limit of 300 kilograms.
  • You can submit sketches of a work-in-progress, but the piece must be completed by the end of November, when all works are due at Kunsthal Mechelen for the exhibition setup.
  • The curators will ensure the best presentation for your 3D work during the exhibition. However, if you have a specific setup in mind, we expect you to be able to provide it.
  • Please note that your work must have been created within the last three years.

Extra informatie

  • Elk werk is verzekerd tot €300

  • Voor de transportkosten voorzien we een uitbetaling van €50 (incl BTW, via forfaitaire onkostennota). Dit bedrag wordt aan het einde van de expo uitbetaald.
