NL: het woord Teotihuacan staat voor ‘Stad van de Goden of Plaats waar god werd geschapen’ en was een stad in de Vallei van Mexico. De stad was de hoofdstad van Quetzalcoatl en werd voorgesteld als de geboorteplaats van de Vijfde Zon. De stad bestond van 500 v.Chr. tot 750 na Chr. Op haar hoogtepunt liepen er 125.000 inwoners rond. Teotihuacan baadt in mysterie omdat men tot op heden niet weet welk volk de stad met piramides bouwden en de hiërogliefen nooit zijn ontcijferd. Ook weet men niet waarom de stad verlaten werd.

Teotihuacan is shrouded in mystery because to this day it is not known which people built the city and the hieroglyphs have never been deciphered. It is also unknown why the city was abandoned.
