Climate change is hitting the prairie landscape in the Blackfoot homelands extremely hard. Extended periods of drought have added to the great pressures that ignorant settler land management practices like industrial agriculture, logging, mining and damming of rivers have been putting on the lands. The arrival of white settlers on the American continent was the beginning of the disintegration of healthy landscapes. Once very fertile grasslands are now reduced to mono-crop farmlands producing revenue mostly for settler farmers and/ or for rich corporations that seem to get greedier and less aware of the consequences of their disrespectful practices with every year going by.
