Inniskim Umaapi is a sacred site to the Blackfoot where the story of the Buffalo Calling Stone originates and where the Blackfoot people return to this day to call on the Bison and their immense powers. It is one of the very few “natural places” left intact after colonial settlement.

I was invited to visit this place last year and following my host’s call, I was found by a buffalo calling stone, who takes care of me and my family since its activation by an Elder in ceremony. The Bison play a central role in my entanglement with the local lands, people, plants and spirits.
