With his series ملامح الغياب (Features of Absence), 2024, Hussein Shamia explores the wide range of emotions through the faces of everyday people living in Gaza: family members, the neighbor next door, passersby, children playing in the streets. A longtime enthusiast of vivid colors, for this series Hussein chose black and white—and every shade in between—, aiming to capture the full range of human feelings.
